The chairman of Bexhill United Football Club has said they are ‘truly thankful’ for a grant they have received via Rother District Council.
Sports clubs, along with businesses, are struggling to cope with ongoing costs during this current pandemic.
And Bexhill United were made aware they qualified for the grant via Rother District Council by ward Councilor & Leader of Rother Cllr. Doug Oliver.
Funding will help cover costs of ongoing maintenance involved in running the community club with a loss in revenue during the on-going COVID-19 pandemic.
The grant will assist with the costs of kit and equipment essential for its 240+ members from the age of five through to senior footballer’s in the Southern Combination Football league
Football club chairman Graham Cox said: “The outbreak of the virus and the consequent shutdown of businesses as of March 23 has left the sport and physical activity sector facing a period of uncertainty.
“It is necessary that sports & community clubs survive this unprecedented crisis to resume when a new normality emerges.
“Bexhill United FC want everyone, regardless of age, background, or level of ability, to feel able to engage in sport and physical activity.
“The club can be put on record that they are truly thankful for this grant which will allow us to continue to provide quality coaching, kit, equipment and that safe environment for the footballing community of Bexhill contributing to the health and wellbeing of many.
“Please take care and when it is safe to do so the Club look forward to welcoming all players and supporters back to the Polegrove.”
